Villa Maria founder and CEO Sir George Fistonich said the Ihumatao Vineyard is one of the most awarded vineyards in the country: “Wines from this vineyard have consistently dominated wine competitions, with a top award for every vintage since the mid-2000s; this incredible result reflects Brett Donaldson (Auckland viticulturist) and his team’s passion and meticulous vineyard management,” he said.

The annual Bragato Awards are to recognise New Zealand grape growers and are named after the visionary viticulturalist who helped to shape viticulture principles for New Zealand.
